For four days in April, we took over Cha Cha Matcha's Flatiron and Beverly Hills locations and our community showed up in the most beautiful way. Here's everything that happened, plus how to recreate the drink at home.
The pop-up, IRL
The energy in both cities was something else. Here's what the weekend looked like.
What made the weekend
Between the two locations — 475 N Beverly Dr in Beverly Hills and 922 Broadway in New York's Flatiron — we got to meet so many of you in person. The limited-time beverage, curated giveaways, and gift-with-purchase for the first 50 customers each day made every morning feel like an event worth waking up early for.
The Banana Cream Matcha Latte was a limited-time drink with a fresh take on a classic matcha latte, blending real fruit, Cha Cha’s signature matcha, our new Cleaner Creamers, and topped with non-dairy cold foam. The baristas were making them nonstop, and every single person stopped to take it in before that first sip.
We weren’t the only ones paying attention. Here’s what Shei Marcelline shared with The Quality Edit after visiting the Beverly Hills pop-up.
"MALK’s coconut creamer closed that gap in a way that feels very real for everyday use. It gives my matcha lattes a solid cream top at home, without needing dairy and without relying on anything overly processed. For me, this felt like a life hack being unlocked in real time." — Shei Marcelline · The Quality Edit
Make it at home
Missed the pop-up? Can't stop thinking about it? We're giving you the full recipe. It comes together in three parts: a banana cream base, a cold foam, and the final assembly.
Total Yield: 2 drinks
Part 1 — Banana Cream Base
Equipment Needed:
- Blender
- Lemon Zester
- Spatula
- Induction Burner
- Pot
Ingredients:
- Ripe Banana, Peeled 1 ea
- Sugar, 2 Tbsp

- MALK Sweet Cream Creamer, 2 tsp
- Lemon Zest, 1/4 ea
- Salt, 2 pinch
- Tumeric, 1 pinch
Instructions:
1. Mash or blend the banana until completely smooth with no chunks.
2. Add water, sweet cream creamer, salt, and turmeric. Mix until fully combined.
3. Transfer to a small pot and add sugar. Heat on low, stirring constantly, until the sugar is fully dissolved. (Do not boil.)
4. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon zest.
5. For a smoother consistency, blend briefly until fully uniform.
6. Let the cream base cool before using.
Part 2 — Banana Cream Cold Foam
Equipment needed:
- Small bowl
- Hand mixer (preferred) or whisk
- Measuring spoons
- Spatula
Ingredients:
- Non-dairy or Dairy whipping cream of choice, 2 Tbsp
- MALK Vanilla Creamer, 1 tsp
- Banana Cream Base, 1 tsp
- Salt, 1-2 pinch
Instructions:
1. Add whipping cream, vanilla creamer, banana cream base, and salt to a small bowl.
2. Whip the mixture using a hand mixer (preferred) or whisk, whip the mixture until it becomes thick and creamy.
3. Continue mixing until the foam holds a medium peak — thick enough to sit on top of the drink without sinking, but still smooth and spoonable.
4. Spoon or pour over your drink and serve right away.
Part 3 — To Make the Banana Cream Drink
1. Make banana milk by mixing 2 tbsp banana cream base and ¼ cup MALK Unsweetened Almond Milk.
2. Stir or blend until smooth.
3. Add matcha: Prepare your matcha separately and pour over the banana milk.
4. Top with banana cream cold foam.
5. Optional: Top with a cherry, 2 wafer cookies, and wafer cookie crumbles!
